Michael John McCarthy

MJMichael John McCarthy is a Cork-born, Glasgow-based composer, musician and songwriter.

Music for performance includes In Time O’ StrifeThe Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, Truant & Dolls (National Theatre of Scotland), The BFG & Steel Magnolias (Dundee Rep), Educating Ronnie & The Night Before Christmas (macrobert), The Not-So-Fatal Death of Grandpa Fredo & Bright Black (Vox Motus) and The Winter’s Tale (People’s Light & Theatre, Philadelphia) and Glory (Janice Parker Projects). Other companies he has worked with include Grid Iron, Lung Ha’s, Platform, Playgroup, Theatre Uncut & Youth Music Theatre UK. He has twice been nominated for the Critics Award for Theatre in Scotland in the category Best Use of Music & Sound.
